Oil companies have to deal with critically high water cuts as many wells reach maturity. This paper reports on laboratory experiments carried out to investigate the mechanisms of conformance control and oil displacement for preformed particle gel injecting through vary permeability porous media. The main research results are as follows:1.The sand-packed model experiment was aimed at evaluating and comparing the propagation as well as the recovery performance of microgel in high permeability porous media.Microgel particles priority transported into high permeable channels, some particles adsorbed in the pore throat of channel and rock surface. With a long period of water injection, the particles would be carried loss.Thereby the blocking rate would be decrease. The oil recovery for the initial water flooding was about 62%.By using the microgel treatment, the final oil recovery was improved to 81%.2.The core flooding experiments were aimed at evaluating and comparing the propagation as well as the recovery performance of microgel in different permeability range of core samples.Microgel cannot flow through the core sample with permeability lower than 40mD.However it had a good adaptability for 100mD permeability core sample. The microgel improved oil recovery about 13%which higher than other core samples experiments.3.The core flooding experiments were aimed at evaluating and comparing the propagation as well as the recovery performance of a novel polymer in different permeability range of core samples.Experiments showed that the novel polymer in the 200mD permeability core sample has the highest oil recovery rate which around 17%.Comparison of two gels in terms of improving oil recovery and conformance control based on the experiments results, the novel polymer performed better than the microgel.4.Discussed numerical simulation method in terms of the mechanism of gel conformance control and improving oil recovery.Described the results of preformed particle gel injection in both fracture and sand-pack models where the experimental results were used to develop and validate mechanistic models to design and optimize the flowing gel injection for conformance control processes.Different core flooding Experiments showed the adaptability of each gel.Selected topic and the research results to guide water stable control for water flooding oil field oil productive development has important theoretical significance and practical value.
