Montmorillonite is a kind of natural silicate material,with a large surface area and good adsorption,but the pure montmorillonite does not own photocatalytic property to degrade orginic compounds.However,titania pillared montmorillonite can degrade orginic compounds under solar and UV light irradiation.In this way,the adsorption property of montmorillonite and the catalytic property of titanium dioxide can be combinated.Titania pillared montmorillonite is the excellent property absorbent and catalyst because of its large specific surface area,adjustable aperture and chemical activity.In this thesis,titanium dioxide pillared montmorillonite(Ti02-MMT)composite is prepared by a Sol-Gel approach,using butyl titanate as precursor and Na-montmorillonite as raw material.The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray energy dispersion spectrum(EDS)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The photocatalytic performance of the sample for methyl orange(MO)degradation and the adsorption property of the sample for heavy metal ions were also investigated.The experimental results show that the photocatalytic degradation rate of the sample for MO in acidic conditions is much higher than that of the sample in neutral and alkaline condition.The acidic condition is conducive to degrade MO.When the pH value is 4,the highest degradation rate reaches 94.1%.When the pH value is 3 and 5,the degradation rate of the sample for MO are also higher,reaching 92.3%and 93.3%,respectively.The results show that different initial concentration of MO and sample dosage will impact the degradation rate of the sample for MO.And the best degradation conditions of the sample for MO are:the pH value is 4,the initial concentration of MO is 30mg/L and the dosage of the sample is lOg/L.The adsorption property of titanium dioxide pillared montmorillonite is better than that of Na-montmorillonite.Nanosized titanium dioxide pillared montmorillonite(Ti02-MMT)composite was prepared by a Sol-Gel approach,using butyl titanate as precursor.The photocatalytic activity of the sample for MO and the adsorption activity of the sample for lead ion are well.
