PES(Polyether sulfone)is a new type of high heat-resistant thermoplastic polymer materials, and is widely used in aerospace, automotive, machinery, electronics and other fields.First of all,the resin thermal properties and melt flow properties were studied. Then the effects of desiccation,spinning-temperature and spinning-pressure on the spinnability of PES fiber were studied, and morphology, mechanical and stretching properties were researched. At last, stretching and heat-setting process for PES fibers were explored. The results show that the PES is completely amorphous, has no melting point. Its melt has well fluidity at 350?420 ?,which is much lower than the decomposition initiation temperature(530.6?).The PES has well spinnability at the temperature of 380?400?,the head pressure of 4.00?6.00MPa,the components pressure of 4.20?4.50MPa.The mechanical properties of the fiber is becoming better with the rising of spinning-speed,and becoming reduced with the rising of spinning-temperature.The best performances of as-spun fiber is that the filament number is 3.80 dtex, the fracture strength is 12.52 cN/tex and the elongation at break is 59.03%.The drafting results show that the drawability of PES fiber is changed from good into the bad as the drawing temperature increased, and changed to bad as drawing speed increased. In the drawing-temperature of 120?180?,drawing-speed of 80?90 m/min,fiber can be drawed for 1.9 times, almost has no broken filaments, the breaking strength is 2 time then the as-spun fiber, but the stability is deteriorated. The results from the heat-setting show that two ways will improve the stability of the fiber, but the further increase.of temperature and time make the mechanical properties worse.
