Anti-sediment agent plays an important role in modern paint industry due to it render paints thixotropic,it can disperse paints and prevent subsidence effectively.Recently,polyamide wax attracted a growing number of scholars for its excellent thixotropic property and preventing sedimentation performance.This paper studied the producing conditions of polyamide wax emulsification and the performance of the emulsion.Firstly,the preparation of polyamide wax emulsification by single type of emulsifier was investigated.Tween series,OP-10,and Takemoto Oil Emulsifier select as emulsifiers to study the influence of stirring speed,temperature,and emulsifying time on the performance of the emulsion.The resulting emulsions were characterized by particle size distribution,viscosity measurement,water separation rate and solids content.Univariate analysis showed that when used non-ionic T-80 as emulsifier,in a dosage of 11wt%of polyamide wax,and set emulsification condition at 1000 rmp,80?,for 30 min,the average particle size of the emulsion was 7.2 ?m,the resulting exhibited emulsion with great stability,such as narrow particle size distribution,high stability,good water dispensability and high solid content.Then complex emulsifiers were investigated under above optimum conditions.Selecting T-20,T-80,OP-10 as primary emulsifiers,respectively,span-80 and CTAB as co-emulsifiers respectively to prepare emulsion.Results showed that Span-80 had the function of foaming and viscosity-increasing while CTAB has the opposite function.When set the ratio of T-20/Span-80 as 3:1(w/w)and OP-10/CTAB as 4:1(w/w),the resulting emulsion with narrow distribution and high stability can be prepared,accordingly.When use four emulsifiers to prepare polyamide wax emulsion,it was found that setting proportion of complex T-20/T-80/OP-10/Span-80 as 1:3:3:1,the average particle size of the emulsion was 10 ?m,and showed high stability,good water dispersibility,and high solid content.
