Rosewood has been widely used in industries of decoration,furniture,handicrafts.Because of rosewood's characteristics of high rigidity,high air-dry density and anisotropy,tool wear and workpiece machining quality problems often occur in the high speed milling process of rosewood.These problems restricted the promotion of the use of high speed milling technology in rosewood cutting.In this paper,combining with the milling process of redwood furniture factory,the high speed milling experiments are carried out on rosewood cutting.The main achievements obtained are as follows:(1)For minimizing milling force,the optimization result of the tool parameters and process parameters is as follows:with single factor experiment,the optimized angle of cutter tip is 30 degrees,the width of cutter tip is 0.3mm;by utilizing the response surface method,the optimized spindle speed n=15000r/min,feed speed vf=1500mm/min and cutting depth aP =2.5mm.(2)The cutting experiments of YG6C flat knife in actual production line show as follows:wear mechanism of uncoated tools are mainly abrasive wear,adhesive wear and oxidation wear;the main failure forms of uncoated tools are chipping and crater wear.The main wear mechanism of the coated tools are abrasive wear,slight adhesive wear and oxidation wear.The main failure forms of the coated tools are coating peeling,a small amount of micro collapse.The peeled coating area of three kinds of coated tools with the same processing time is:TiN>TiAlN>TiCN.Among them,the TiCN coating tool has minimum wear and surface quality of the workpiece cutted by the TiCN coating tool is the best.According to quality of the workpieces and the VB value of tool wear,the three kinds of coated tools are superior to the YG6C tools and TiCN is the best coating material.(3)Based on the long time milling experiments,the relation of milling force and tool wear is obtained.The experimental results show that the milling force signal can be used to track the variation of the VB value of the tool wear.The utility of the model can effectively judge the failure time of the worn tool,which is convenient for the operator to replace the cutter in time to avoid burned workpiece.
