Cast film is a film which is prepared by quenched melt and extruded from a flat mould and which is widely used for its excellent film quality.In its extrusion molding,casting mould plays a vital role.The design of casting mould has a direct impact on the quality and production efficiency of cast film.Therefore,a reasonable design of casting mould is fundamental.In this paper,it is studied the flow characteristics of polymer melt in depth firstly,providing essential theoretical support for design of casting mould and research analysis subsequently.This paper focuses on the design theory of extrusion mould and a deep research is conducted based on it.As the selection of mould runner is the key to the design of casting mould,the coat-hanger runner with many advantages is selected through theoretical analysis,and the design of casting mould and calculation of mould parameters are conducted based on design theory of extrusion mould.Then,the different length of mould lip regarding the runner of casting mould is simulated by using finite element analysis software POLYFLOW,and the deformation of cast film at the exit of casting mould is considered as a determinant.Through comparative analysis,the mould lip-length of casting mould which needs repeated experiments to determine previously is obtained now.Aiming at the fluidity of melt in the runner of casting mould,the software POLYFLOW is used to simulate and the distribution of velocity field in the runner of casting mould is analyzed,so as to verify the runner design of casting mould.Finally,according to the research results on casting mould designed based on above-mentioned design method,verify that the casting mould design method is reasonable.
