| As environmental pollution and wasting resources are getting worse,how to implement effective environmental protection while the rapidly developing of economy has become a social focus attention.Through the improvement of products,processes and technology,the resource efficiency use by enterprises is increased.The "win-win" about social and economic benefits would be achieved with the increasing competitiveness.Although environmental innovation can achieve double benefits,there is great risk,and the economic performance of environmental innovation is difficult to achieve in a short time.Therefore,enterprises seldom take the initiative to carry out environmental protection measures,and their environmental innovations often come from outside pressure.Institutional pressures are external pressures that companies must comply with legitimacy.It has been proved to be an important driving force for promoting the implementation of environmental protection.Scholars have not yet reached consensus on the relationship between institutional pressures and environmental innovation.Therefore,it is necessary to further study the driving effect of institutional pressures on corporate environment enterprises,especially the moderating factors that affect their relationship.This paper intends to explore the influence of institutional pressure on enterprise environmental innovation and the moderating role of enterprise initiative(including executive support and cross-functional integration).Based on the view of institutional theory and questionnaire surveys of 250 Chinese manufacturing companies,this article deeply explores the impact of institutional pressures(regulative pressures and normative pressures)on the company’s environmental innovation.On this basis,this paper studies the role of cross-functional cooperation and top manager commitment in moderate between institutional pressures and corporate environmental innovation further.Through hierarchical regression analysis,the research results of this paper show that regulative pressures and normative pressures are positively related on corporate environmental innovation,and cross-functional cooperation and top manager commitment have a significant moderate between regulative pressures and corporate environmental innovation.However,cross-functional cooperation and top manager commitment have no effect on the relationship between normative pressures and corporate environmental innovation.This article has enriched empirical research on the relationship between institutional pressures and corporate environmental innovation.More importantly,this paper examines whether cross-functional cooperation and top manager commitment can affect the response and efficiency of firms to regulatory pressures from the view of corporate capabilities and senior managers.It provides new explanations for the difference in the degree of effect of institutional pressures on corporate environmental innovation. |
