The paper is mainly focused on a special feeder mixing drum and tobacco leaves.Discrete element method(DEM)is adopted in which iteration calculation is based on the Newton's second law.Large computer server as calculating platform is used because of huge calculated amount.Meanwhile,in order to decrease calculated amount,tobacco leaves are dealt with as discrete particles and kinetic position and velocity between particles are pursued.To make the simulation results closer to the actual situation,the constitutive model of tobacco is studied,and a DEM commercial software EDEM is used to establish the model and the whole wire feed rate of tobacco leaves is researched in the mixing process.Meanwhile,with the use of computational fluid dynamics(CFD),the liquid spice inside the drum is proceed as the continuous items.In the drum,biphasic coupling between discrete particles and liquid spices happens where commercial software FLUENT coupled EDEM is used to analyze.The dynamic simulation is simulated by adjusting related parameters to get an improved feeder compounding effect and find a feasible and efficient way.The main work is as follows:(1)Based on the backward status of the domestic tobacco industry,visualization of blending process internal drum feeder is realized through the application of digital simulation technology.(2)Rotation angle of the feeder mixing drum is researched.The optimum angle of the drum is determined by EDEM simulation and comparison with the actual situation is done which provides guidance for the actual production line.(3)According to the statistics and modeling of the tobacco geometric model,constitutive model and analysis tobacco leaves are done.The optimum rotation speed of the drum feeder is determined through EDEM simulation.The feed uniformity is improved while tobacco crushing rate is reduced.(4)It is a reliable guarantee to save the test cost and improve the efficiency of the production line using modern equipment to replace the traditional experiments.With computer servers,simulation inside the drum for the solid phase tobacco and the liquid phase spice is completed while the flow characteristics of solid-liquid two-phase flow of the drum is studied by using EDEM coupled FLUENT method.Comparison is done and the mobility patterns of the solid-liquid items in the drum and the solid-liquid velocity distribution are analyzed.
