This paper presents a new numerical control machining process of the camshaft the numerical control machining of hollow assembled camshaft.This new process not only retained the advantages of the assembled camshaft like saving material,easy to heat treatment and flexible design but also each processing link for numerical control takes note of the NC machining parts with high precision,good consistency and the characteristics of strong adaptability.Compared with the traditional rely on model machine the new process make full use of the advantage of the NC machine tools and assembled camshaft.It can effectively save materials,control costs,shorten the processing cycle and reduce scrap rate which has the prospect of popularization and application.The domestic and foreign development history and research progress of the camshaft processing technology is firstly presented in this thesis,and then introduces the general process of NC machining process,analyzes the features of the assembled camshaft,lay the foundation for the analysis of NC machining process.The parametric 3D model of camshaft can be established by the Pro/E modeling capabilities to establish the model as a template for the secondary development.Choosing the fit processing method for cam and shaft in the NC module then set the processing sequence.Including analyzing and calculate the main parameters,choosing cutting tools,planning the processing technology of cam and so on.The processing effects can be evaluated by using Pro/NC simulation function.Considering the camshaft,which is the central parts of the diesel engine,has strict requirements on their machining precision,so it is necessary to go through finish machining.With the help of the advanced CAM software EdgeCAM,the turn-milling machining camshaft Settings can be done.The processes of turn-milling compound machining camshaft is analyzed and the tool path is optimized to make sure the accuracy reach its requirements.With the help of the EdgeCAM processing simulation function,the simulation analysis was carried out on the processing effect.Finally,through the post-processing transfer from tool path data file to this file which machine tool can be identified.
