Termites are the most problematic pests in the housing construction, agriculture, forestry, water conservancy, and transportation, caused serious damage and significant economic losses. The cause over 1 billions of dollars worth of spent for termite prevention, control management, and repair and maintenance annually throughout the world. The amphibious termites of Reticulitermes chinensis, without large nests, are small and scattered, and the drainage area of Yangtze River in China, and it is one of the main species of termite with broad distribution that damages of buildings.Termite baiting agent are highly effective, safe, convenient, easy operation,no pollution and killing of whole nest termites, and it has been widely used in termites prevention and control.Termite trapping agent is mainly composed of attractant and toxic baits, its components directly affect the insecticidal effect. This paper mainly on the optimization of attractant and toxic baits of the termite trapping agent, the major results are summarized as follows:1.Toxicity test of new nicotinic insecticides against R.chinensisDetermination on indoor toxicity of seven kinds of neonicotinoid insecticide with filter paper and topical application treatments to R.chinensis.The results showed that acetamiprid(LC50 = 0.13 ?g/ml and LD50 = 0.09 ng/termite)and dinotefuran(LC50 = 0.86 ?g/ml and LD50 = 0.06 ng/termite)achieved obvious insecticidal efficacy after R.chinensis were treated 5 d,respectively.2.Transfer between dinotefuran and acetamiprid in R.chinensisThe selected acetamiprid and dinotefuran were tested for their transmissibility between termites by setting different concentrations, numbers of donors, and different exposure times. This test shows that both dinotefuran and acetamiprid can be transferred between termites, and their delivery effects are affected by the concentration of the insecticides, the number of donors, and the time of exposure. The concentration of the insecticides is too high or the exposure time is too long, and the low concentration of the insecticides or the short duration of exposure is also not conducive to the transfer of acetamiprid and dinotefuran between the termites. The more the number of donors, the more beneficial is the transfer of acetamiprid and dinotefuran.Among them, acetamiprid can be better delivered between termites at a lower concentration of 0.5 ?g/g.3.Phagostimulating effect for extracts of worker's labial glands in R.chinensisThe labial glands of R.chinensis workers were treated with different extracts,at different times and at different temperatures. The trapping test of their workers was used to determine the characteristics of the labial glands extracts. The test results showed that the labial glands extracts were water-soluble,not heat-resistant,and easily volatile.4.Chemical compositions of distilled water extracts of worker's labial glands in R.chinensisBy GC-MS,the results showed that the main components of distilled water extracts of worker's labial glands in R.chinensis were 3-Hexanol and 3-Hexanone.In addition, the 3-Hexanol and 3-Hexanone were tested individually for their phagostimulating effect on workers of R.chinensis.The results showed that 3-Hexanol and 3-Hexanone were no significant phagostimulating effect on workers of R.chinensis, however, there were significant repellent effect on workers of R.chinensis for 0.01,10 and 100 ?g/ml 3-Hexanol.Therefore,the attraction may be the result of multiple components.5.Combined effects of acetamiprid with water extract of the labial glands of the R.chinensisThe results showed that within 36 h,the mortality of the termites which were treated by the acetamiprid combined with the water extract of the labial glands of the R.chinensis workers was significantly higher than that of the termites which were treated only by acetamiprid. After 36 h,there was no significant difference in termite mortality. The results showed that in a short period of time, acetamiprid combined with the water extract of the labial glands of termites has a significant trapping effect on their worker termites. In addition, the results showed that the water extracts of the labial glands of different concentrations of R.chinensis workers had no effect on the killing effect.
