With the extensive exploitation of various mineral resources,the tailings emissions from the mining industry in China have reached 14.6 billion tons by 2016.Tailings are mostly slurry,which is discharged directly in the tailings pond.Tailings ponds occupy a large amount of land,and because of the high moisture content,low strength,and multi-grain nature of the tailings slurry,dam breakage can easily occur during flood seasons or natural disasters.Therefore,it is urgent to solve the problem of drainage and reinforcement of tailings slurry.Electro-osmosis is a method of applying a DC electric field in tailings slurry to speed up the consolidation of soil drainage.It has the advantages of fast reinforcement,high safety,and irreversibility.It has significant advantages in improving and consolidating soils with high moisture content and low permeability,but it also has the disadvantages of high power consumption and low efficiency.The traditional method for improving and reinforcing the poor properties of soil is adding quicklime,cement,and fly ash to it,but it takes a long time and easily causes secondary pollution.The author believes that the electrokinetic mechanism can promote the reaction between additives and tailings slurry,and can promote each other.Therefore,the author tried to study the effectiveness and feasibility through the laboratory test with different additives combined with electroosmosis.This paper mainly adopts the method of indoor simulation to test the tailings slurry by adding different additives,separate electroosmotic alone and different additives combined with electroosmotic improvement.The physical properties,structural characteristics and deformation characteristics of tailings slurry under various test methods were compared by recording data such as displacement,moisture content,liquid-plastic limit,shear strength,compressibility,current,internal friction angle,and permeability coefficient.The test results are as follows: Compared with natural drainage consolidation test group,adding additives of each test in increased strength,liquid plastic limit,reduce the permeability,reduce strain increase internal friction Angle,etc.,have played an important role in promoting;The comparison between the electroosmotic group and the additives combined with the electroosmotic group shows that the additives and the electroosmosis are mutually reinforcing,which proves the rationality and validity of the additive combined electroosmosis method;The comprehensive analysis of energy consumption,strength and stability,etc.shows that cement combined with electroosmosis is the best and most practical value.
