Organic UV filters had a good absorption of UVA(320-400nm)and UVB(280-320nm),were widely used in personal care products such as sunscreens to protect the skin from UV rays.In addition, organic UV filters were widely used in textile, plastics, coatings and automotive polishes and other polymer materials,to avoid aging and degradation of the polymer due to ultraviolet radiation. The study found that most organic UV filters had genetic toxicity, reproductive toxicity and endocrine disrupting effects, which had a large potential harm to organisms. With the increase of organic UV filters production and usage amount, there are a lot of reports found that organic UV filters exist in water, soil and organisms.Although research on the environmental pollution of organic UV filters has been conducted both at home and abroad, the reported data on its environment are still very limited. At present, there is no report on the pollution of lakes in China. The pollution of organic UV filters in different environmental media and their contribution to lake pollution are still unclear. Therefore, this study selected Hefei urban areas,lake-inflowing rivers and Lake Chaohu as research areas to study the pollution characteristics of urban road dust, rivers and Lake Chaohu water and sediments, main sources of pollution and possible impacts of organic UV filters in different research media.Assess the environmental risks of organic UV filters in the region in order to provide a scientific basis for risk control and risk management of emerging pollutants in the region. The pollution and health risks of organic UV filters in road dusts in Hefei were investigated. The results showed that the concentration of 12 organic UV filters in dust ranged from 6.42 to 94.2 ng·g-1.Octocrylene(OC)was the dominant compounds detected in dust.Pollution sources analysis shows that the organic UV filters in dust may be mainly from the emissions of organic UV filters added in industrial products, cosmetics and textile finishing agents,as well as the release in the process of exposure of automotive coatings and tire wear.Further, the health risks were assessed according to the calculated the daily intake of 12 organic UV filters in dust.In this study,OC is the highest daily intake of organic UV absorbers, its daily intake is much higher than other compounds but far below the safety margin, the health risks to adults is minimal. The pollution and ecological risks of organic UV filters in water and sediments from Lake Chaohu and its inflow rivers were analyzed. The results showed that the concentration of 12 organic UV filters in water ranged from 160 to 587 ng·L-1.Benzophenone(BP)and Benzophenone-3(BP-3)were the key pollutant of organic UV filters in water. The concentration of 12 organic UV filters in sediment ranged from 9.01 to 178 ng·g-1.BP and OC were found as the dominant compounds detected in the sediments.Pollution sources analysis shows that the pollution of organic UV filters in Lake Chaohu and inflow rivers mainly comes from the emission of UV filters used in cosmetics and industrial products. The sources of water pollution are mainly cosmetic discharges, while the sedimentary facies is mainly the emission of UV absorbers in industrial products.Further, the ecological risks were assessed according to the calculated risk quotient(RQ)based on the predicted no effect concentrations(PNEC).In the water, except BP-3,EHMC,HMS and OC might pose low to moderate risks to algae, and BP and EHS might pose low risk to some aquatic organisms.Other chemicals had no risk to aquatic organisms. In the sediment,BP-3 and BP might pose low risk to algae and pimephales promelas respectively. To nine chemicals in sediments, with log Kow>5,had no potential ecological risks to aquatic species. In this area, organic UV filters in urban road dust, water and sediments of lake-inflowing rivers and Lake Chaohu were detected by different degrees, and the pollution is more common. In general, the pollutants in road dust can flow into the river through dustfall and surface runoff. However,in this study,it has not been found in the spatial distribution that the pollution of road dust has a significant impact on rivers.Rivers flowing through densely populated areas and industrial areas, such as Nanfei River,Banqiao River and Tangxi River, may be the main routes for pollution into the lake. The risk assessment of this study has some uncertainties, and the real environmental impact needs to be studied further.
