Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)is a kind of polyethylene with a larger molecular weight similar to low density polyethylene(LDPE)and high density polyethylene(HDPE)structures.Compared with other plastics,the linear structure and maximum molecular weight of UHMWPE have more excellent properties,such as good wear resistance,excellent impact resistance,corrosion resistance and self lubrication.With the development of science and technology,engineering plastics not only play an important role in the daily production and life,but many advanced fields have also begun to use engineering plastics in large numbers.Because of its excellent performance,UHMWPE has received great attention and has been widely applied in various fields.However,problems such as difficulty in melting process,low hardness and poor heat resistance after forming become the obstacle to further expand the application of UHMWPE.Therefore,the research on the processing characteristics and performance optimization of UHMWPE has become the focus of current research.In this paper,UHMWPE resin was used as the matrix,UHMWPE was modified by adding organic filler and inorganic nano filler,and high performance UHMWPE composite was prepared by extrusion process.The effects of the amount of organic filler PA6 and the amount of inorganic nano filler OMMT on the heat resistance,mechanical properties and surface hardness of UHMWPE composites were studied.It is found that both PA6 and OMMT can effectively improve the heat resistance and surface hardness of the composite,but PA6 will weaken the mechanical properties of UHMWPE composites,while OMMT can enhance the mechanical properties of UHMWPE composites.Then,under the condition of certain amount of filler OMMT and other parameters,the effect of compatibilizer dosage on the heat resistance of UHMWPE composites was studied.The effect of two modification methods using coupling agent to treat the filler and adding compatibilizer was also compared,and the optimum scheme of the modified UHMWPE was obtained through the related test and analysis.Finally,the melt strength of UHMWPE blends,which were blended with one or several different organic resins,was characterized by a self-developed melt strength test device.The phenomena of the experiment and the experimental results were compared,and the enhancement mechanism of UHMWPE melt strength was analyzed combined with related tests.
