This study consisted by three parts:Uera-SDS-carbinol Adhesive?Uera-SDSpropanetriol Adhesive?Uera-SDS-D-Mannitol Adhesive.The aim of this study is to find the best formulations and fabrication processes for above three adhesives.FTIR,DSC,SEM was used to test the physical and chemical properties of these adhesives.The results are as follows: ? Uera-SDS-carbinol AdhesiveUnder the contrast experiment,with the increasing content of carbinol,the bonding strength of the modified adhesives was changed and when the content of carbinol at 20 mL,the dry shear strength of the plywood bonded with the resultant adhesive increased to a maximum value 1.97 MPa,while the wet shear strength of the plywood bonded with the resultant adhesive increased to a maximum value 2.22 MPa which is acceptable for industrial application in plywood fabrication according to the national standards of the Republic of China(?0.7 MPa).In addition,the orthogonal experiment based on the maximum value adhesive found that the best fabrication process is 140 oC hot pressing temperature,5h mixing time and 10 p H value.? Uera-SDS-propanetriol AdhesiveBased on the contrast experiment,with the increasing content of propanetriol,the bonding strength of the modified adhesives was changed and when the content of propanetriol at 20 mL,the dry shear strength of the plywood bonded with the resultant adhesive increased to a maximum value 2.45 MPa,while the wet shear strength of the plywood bonded with the resultant adhesive increased to a maximum value 1.32 MPa which is acceptable for industrial application in plywood fabrication according to the national standards of the Republic of China(?0.7 MPa).In addition,the orthogonal experiment based on the maximum value adhesive found that the best fabrication process is 120 oC hot pressing temperature,5h mixing time and 9 pH value.? Uera-SDS-D-Mannitol AdhesiveAccording to the contrast experiment,with the increasing content of D-Mannitol,the bonding strength of the modified adhesives was changed and when the content of D-Mannitol at 11 g the dry shear strength of the plywood bonded with the resultant adhesive increased to a maximum value 2.02 MPa,the wet state increased to a maximum value 1.06 MPa which is acceptable for industrial application in plywood fabrication according to the China National Standard(?0.7 MPa).In addition,the Orthogonal experiment based on the maximum value adhesive found that the best fabrication process is hot pressing temperature 140oC?mixing time 3h and p H value 10.Both three adhesives had a compact structure and stable thermal performance according to the results of FTIR,SEM and DSC measurements.
