Research Of Graffiti Art Elements’ Application On Denim Garment

Graffiti art,characterized by its bright and casual artistic features,gives people a feeling of being relaxed,casual and full of personality,which is very in line with the spiritual aspirations of modern people.In recent years,it has become an important source of inspiration in Modern fashion design innovation.This paper,bases on the famous graffiti artist Keith Haring’s art pieces,analyzes the artistic features and expressive techniques of graffiti art elements.Also,it probes into the commonality between graffiti art and denim clothing design,to study the designing principles and to apply graffiti art elements to denim costume design,in order to explore the new art and design styles and enlighten the fashion designer’s creative design thoughts.This paper mainly includes three parts:The first part analyzes graffiti art through its developing history,from the origin to the status quo.And,sums up different graffiti art elements and representative figures、pieces.At the same time,it discussed the differentiation between China and abroad for the graffiti art’s utilization in clothing design.It is found that graffiti art has become an important design element in visual fashion and plays a bigger and bigger role in our art field.In the second part,through studying the expression forms on the combination of Graffiti art’s patterns、colors、compositions of screens,technics,three-dimensional styling,other design elements and the garment fabric crafts,unifying specific application cases,we summarizes the application principles and methods of graffiti artistic elements in denim clothing.The third part takes the Keith Haring’s graffiti art element as the inspiration source,combines the above methods that graffiti art element applies in the cowboy clothing,to carry on the series clothing innovation design practices,to test and consummate the thesis research conclusion.This paper combines graffiti art elements with denim clothing for innovative design,which is a cultural heritage of graffiti art that is not easy to preserve,and provides a new design direction for modern denim clothing design.It broadens the creative thinking of clothing design.We hope to provide some reference value for the innovative development of China’s fashion design.
