Chinese man-shaped lamps and lanterns first appeared in the Western Zhou Dynasty,flourished during the Warring States period,reaching the peak in the Hans Dynasty.The lamps with different shapes and forms are the epitome of social life and cultural customs in the Han dynasty,as well as the important carriers of aesthetic consciousness and creation thought.This paper constructs the time-space framework of the world-renowned lamps in the Han Dynasty,and conducts a combing of shapes,forms,decorations,materials,craftsmanship,and functions.The analysis is based on the social background of the Hans Dynasty so as to summarize their evolutionary laws and grasp their design ideas.From the perspective of design science,this article combines archetypes,history,sociology and other disciplines of research methods,through the data collection,literature research,case analysis and other ways to do full-length,multi-angle perspective Research.First of all,from the perspective of social culture,the author analyzes the origin and development of the man-shaped lamps and lanterns,and the motivations of the prosperity from three perspectives: the concept of social funerals,the life and habits of the Han people,and the development of the social handicraft system.Secondly,with the method of archetype,the author uses the different sitting-posture lamps and lanterns as the classification criteria to classify the two types of lamps in the Han Dynasty.After classification,the author compares the commonness and individuality of different types of lamps and lanterns in the Han Dynasty.Then,through the formula,the morphological evolution of the man-shaped lamps and lanterns in different periods are presented,and their styling techniques and characteristics are further summarized.Then,in the aspect of decorative design,this paper starts from the distribution and symbolic significance of different decorative patterns,and analyzes the decorative design rules of man-shaped lamps and lanterns in the Han dynasty.In terms of materials and craftsmanship,the influence of man-shaped lamps and lanterns by different materials and techniques are discussed.In terms of function,this paper discusses the perspective of the practical functions and symbolic functions of man-shaped lamps and lanterns during the Han dynasty.Finally,the design ideas embodied in man-shaped lamps and lanterns during the Han dynasty are summarized: the aesthetic conception,the view of creation of the observatory system and the view of the use of things.
