Metal cutting technology is an important part of the field of mechanical manufacturing,which is widely used in aerospace,transportation and other fields.However,a large amount of metal chips and scraps will be produced in the traditional metal cutting process,which causes the waste of resources and the pollution of the environment.Fortunately,unlike other resources that are widely used in modern technology,the metal materials are essentially recyclable.The recycling of metal materials greatly reduces the demand for raw materials for metal mining and processing,thereby saving a lot of energy and water,and greatly limits the environmental degradation caused by raw material mining.Since the cost of recovered metal materials is often much lower than the cost of metal mining and smelting,chip recovery is not only beneficial to environmental protection and sustainable development strategies,but also brings huge economic benefits.The method of recovering metals into raw materials has become an important way of metal preparation in developed countries.Howeve,the traditional remelting method has the problems of serious burning loss and low recovery rate in the process of recycling metal chips.The recovery methods without remelting,such as powder metallurgy,hot extrusion,cyclic extrusion compression,and equal channel angular pressing often have complex processes and low degree of automation,which is not conducive to industrial application.In this thesis,a novel metal cutting and recycling process-chip forming machining(CFM)was proposed.The CFM process can directly convert metal chips that were originally scraps into micro-grooved strips with abundant surface structures during the process of metal cutting.The CFM process can not only accomplish ordinary cutting tasks,but also directly regenerate chips into micro grooved strips with abundant surface structures without any chip cleaning and recycling process,and the chip regeneration rate is up to 100%.In this thesis,the influences of CFM parameters such as rotation speed,feed rate,cutting depth,rack angle of the tool on the machined surface quality and the forming rules of regenerated micro-grooves has been fully studied.The surface roughness and microhardness of the processed surface quality after chip cutting and conventional cutting were compared,and the influence of the machining parameters on the quality of the machined surface was revealed.Finite element model of the CFM process has been established.The influence of the machining parameters on the quality of the machined surface is revealed.The influence of CFM parameters on the forming effect of regenerated micro groove strip was revealed.The results show that CFM process can replace the traditional cutting to complete the cutting task.And the effect of parameters on the quality of the machined surface and the height of the regenerated strips is reversed.With the increase of cutting speed,decrease of feed rate,decrease of cutting depth and increase of tool rake angle,the surface roughness of the workpiece will be improved,and the size of regenerated micro-grooved strip will be reduced.
