With the rapid economic development,PM2.5 pollution has become the most prominent environmental issue in China.Under the background of appealing for construction of ecological civilization and the development of a green economy, the study on PM2.5 pollution is of great importance to promoting the win-win between regional economic development and environmental improvement. This article focuses on how to accurately assess the health and economic losses caused by PM2.5 pollution in China, and how to control PM2.5 pollution from the source.First of all, this article uses the exposure-response relationship and the disease economic burden model to assess the health effects and economic losses caused by the PM2.5 pollution in China from the national level, and intuitively reflects the huge negative impact of PM2.5 on our country.Secondly,in order to explore the governance path of PM2.5,this paper uses the EKC and the spatial econometric theory to identify the main driving factors of PM2.5 in China. The results show that in consideration of the spatial influence,PM2.5 pollution and the development of economy meet the EKC theory and presents a significant inverted“U”shaped curve relationship. In addition,PM2.5 concentrations in an area is not only directly affected by the local influencing factors but also can be affected by the spatial spillover effect of nearby areas. The direct drivers include positive promotion of industrial structure, population density, public transportation, pollution emissions, central heating, and negative inhibition of urban greening. The spatial drivers include positive effects of public transportation, pollution emissions, and negative effects of urban greening and central heating. To effectively control PM2.5 pollution from the source,it is necessary not only to adopt targeted measures to make best use of the advantages and bypass the disadvantages for key drivers, but also to take full advantage of the inter-regional mechanisms for joint prevention and control work.
