In order to overcome the high sensitivity of oxide nanothermite and expand nanothermite applications in replace of primary explosives,an insensitive nanothermite n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O were prepared by electrostatic spraying(ES)method in this paper.The preparation,performance and applications of n-Al/CuSO4.5H2O are studied.(1)The microspheres n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O were prepared by electrostatic spraying method.At the same time,the size-matching effect of two components were ultized and then nano aluminum coated on the surface of CuSO4.5H2O.The composite particles mixed uniformly and characterized of well-distribution size,which were helpful for improving the specific surface area of n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O.(2)The thermal test and combustion experiment shows that the maximum heat release rate and the average pressurization rate of n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O(ES)is 1.5 times and 2 times than those of physical mixing preparation.These performance improvements indicate that electrostatic spraying improves the contact area of oxidants and fuels and shortens the mass transfer distance.The sensitivity was tested,compared with n-Al/CuO,n-A1/CuSO4·5H2O composites were more insensitivity.The high speed photography shows that the flame of n-Al/Na2SO4 was yellow,and the flame length and the burning rate were 7.4cm and 60m/s.The flame of n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O was green-blue,and the flame length and the burning rate were 7.8cm and 176m/s.(3)n-Al/Na2SO4 and n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O were applied to a semiconductor bridge ignition,the ignition energy were 0.72mJ and 0.91mJ.In the laser ignition experiment,the laser ignition energy is 11.03mJ and 11.35mJ.CuSO4·5H2O and n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O with different mass fraction were adding to RDX.The results show that the RDX detonation velocity are increased 384m/s with the mass fraction 0.1%of n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O.Finally,n-A1/CuSO4·5H2O(PM)and n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O(ES)were used to detonate PETN and RDX.The detonation of RDX by n-Al/CuSO4·5H2O(PM)was failed,the other three groups were successful initiation,which is meaningful for the replace of primary explosive and provides a reference for the development of green primary explosives.
