Global warming is the main challenge the world faces today.Carbon dioxide,as the main greenhouse gas,is the main cause of climate warming, for which countries around the world are working to reduce carbon dioxide emission. As the world's largest emitter of carbon dioxide,China has made a commitment to reduce carbon emission per unit of GDP by 40% to 45% in 2020 than that in 2005 at the 2009 UN climate conference in response to international pressure to reduce emissions. In this context, this thesis proposes the measurement methods to study the impact of China's population factors on carbon dioxide emission,Which is of great significance for China to make emission reduction measures and to enhance the international influence. In this thesis,30 provinces in China are divided according to geographical location, economic level, urbanization level and urban-rural income gap,and based on the STIRPAT model, the influence of population factors on carbon dioxide emission was studied. The experimental results show that the per capita GDP,carbon emission intensity, population size have significant positive effects on carbon dioxide emission in the region, and the effect of other factors on carbon dioxide emission varies with the region.(1)There is a significant difference in the impact of aging rate on carbon dioxide emissions in all regions, which is significantly positive in the middle economic development area, high urbanization development area, the high and low urban-rural income gap regions.(2)The impact of the proportion of higher education on carbon dioxide emissions is also significantly different with the region. It plays a significant negative role in the central region, low urbanization development area, the high and low urban-rural income gap regions, but it has a significant positive role in the middle economic development area.(3)The impact of urban-rural income gap on carbon dioxide emission is positive in all regions, but the significance varies from region to region.Overall, with the improvement of economic level, the increase of urbanization level and the decrease of urban-rural income level, the impact of urban-rural income disparity on the emission of carbon dioxide is reduced.(4)The impact of urbanization rate on carbon dioxide emission is significant in all regions, but there are differences in the directions of action. There is a significantnegative effect in the eastern region, the high economic development region, the high urbanization region, the high and low urban-rural income gap regions. However,in the central and western regions, the low and middle economic development regions, and the high urban-rural income gap region, there is a significant positive effect.
