In order to adapt to multivariety-small batch production mode,more and more manufacturers begin to use CNC machine tools and machining centers in the production process,these equipments need more tools to cut workpiece in the processing and tools change frequently,these features bring many challenges to the tool management work.On the one hand,in the field of tool management,two technologies are commonly used,including two-dimensional code and RFID tag,they commonly have some disadvantages,like that they will be affected by metal chips in the processing field.On the other hand,the traditional way of using vibration signal to monitor cutting tool state also has some disadvantages,like that the distance between sensor and cutter will change during cutting,this problem will affect the collection of vibration signals.To solve the above two problems,this paper develops the intelligent tool holder system that integrates signal acquisition module and information storage module into the tool holder and transfer data with wireless way,used for dynamic and static management of cutting tools.The main work of this paper is as follows:(1)According to the demands of tool condition monitoring and tool information storage,the overall design of intelligent tool holder system is given,the whole system is divided into the host computer information interaction unit and slave computer information acquisition unit.(2)According to the overall design goal of the intelligent tool holder system,the hardware platform of slave information acquisition unit is built,the suitable electronic components are selected according to demands of the system,the corresponding circuit is designed,and the hardware carrier is designed.(3)The software of the intelligent tool holder system is completed,and the signal acquisition module,the information storage module,the wireless signal transmission module and the USB signal transmission module are designed on the Keil uVision5.0 platform,and the computer interaction software is designed on the LabVIEW platform.(4)A series of experiments were designed and carried out to test the performance of the intelligent tool holder system,and the practicability and feasibility of the intelligent tool holder system are verified,therefore,this system can be used in intelligent management of tools.
