Bisphenol A epoxy resins are widely used in composite matrix,adhesive and packaging material,due to their attractively overall performance.However,like most of organic polymer,epoxy resins are combined with C,H,O elements,which leads to poor flame retardant properties and limits their application in many fields.Nowadays,phosphorus-containing flame retardants are replacing halogen-containing flame retardants because of the promotion of environmental awareness.But,phosphorus-containing flame retardants may affect certain performance of the epoxy resins,and limit the further promotion of flame retardant performance.With the development of nano materials technology,nanoparticles are widely used in the modification of epoxy resins.In this present work,the effect of nanoparticles on phosphorus containing flame-retardant epoxy resin was studied.The main research contents and results are as follows.(1)In this paper,two kinds of phosphorus containing flame-retardant epoxy resin were prepared by DOPO and HPCTP.The effect of Nano-SiO2,Nano-Al2O3,or MWCNTs on the cured epoxy resins are prepared with different content of nanoparticles.(2)Nanoparticles can improve the LOI and UL-94 test level.Thereinto,LOI of EP-DOPO-SiO2-4phr reached to 36.2%,EP-DOPO-Al2O3-4phr reached to 40.0%,EP-DOPO-Al2O3-4phr reached to 36.4%,EP-HPCTP-Al2O3-4phr reached to 41.0%,EP-DOPO-MWCNTs-1phr reached to 34.0%,and EP-HPCTP-MWCNTs-1phr reached to 40.9%.Meanwhile,the UL-94 test level can reach to V-0 With the addition of a certain amount of nanoparticles.(3)Nanoparticles can be used as the synergistic flame retardant to keep the thermal resistance of phosphorus containing flame-retardant epoxy resin group.Besides,The char yield at 800℃are improved to some extent.Nanoparticles have slight effect on Tg.Therefore,nanoparticles can improve the flame retardancy,by increasing the thermal resistance to promote char formation.(4)Nanoparticles can make up for the lack of mechanical properties of phosphorus containing flame-retardant epoxy resin,and improve the tensile strength and flexural strength.
