Under the background of the state regulations ‘disable clay brick' and In order todevelop the new wall materials as well as realize the country's sustainable developmentstrategy, this task was based on the key scientific and technological project of Guangxidepartment and Liuzhou city. With the purpose of promoting the application of new wallmaterials and working out a new enterprise standard, this research studied a new type ofexpandable polystyrene concrete block, named EPS Concrete Block. In this topic,lightweight granular materials, organic polymers, fly ash, slag, activator, additives andother materials has been used. And this new material has many advantages such as lightweight, energy conservation and recycling. Therefore, this paper is not only in line withthe current research and the direction of developing masonry structures, but also hasgood development prospects. In this paper, the research content is as follows.(1) This study is based on optimum design of fly ash-slag-cement cementitioussystem, continuous adjustment and optimization of block mixing ratio. Through a testcalculation, theoretical analysis, regression analysis and make a deep analysis of physicaland mechanical properties of this block, we developed a new EPS concrete block. Thestrength grade of this EPS concrete block is between MU5to MU15.The appearancedensity is between1200Kg/m3to1750Kg/m3and the thermal conductivity is between0184W/m·K to0.202W/m·K. This EPS concrete block is belonging to a lightweight andheat insulating material and this paper selected the EPS load-bearing block of MU15strength grade and EPS self-bearing block of MU5strength grade for the basic mechanicsperformance of block masonry structure.(2) The article studied on the two different types of EPS concrete block masonryunder compression performance. There are24masonry specimens in the test. Thespecimens were made of special mortar and normal mortar.Using the elastic theory andmathematical statistics methods, the masonry under compression mechanism were studied.According to the results,this article analyzed the influencing factors of compressivestrength of masonry, and deduced the best calculating formula for the average compressivestrength values of EPS concrete block masonry.(3) The experiment studied two different types of EPS concrete block masonryunder shear performance. There are33masonry specimens in the test. Considering thethickness and strength of mortar influence on shear strength of masonry and according tothe test results, the article established the shear strength of EPS concrete block masonryspecifications amended formula and the shear strength of EPS concrete block masonryregression formula, and then combined with the standard formula for comparison in orderto choose the best one. The article established the best calculating formula of averageshear strength values of EPS concrete block masonry.(4) The article studied on the deformation property of two different types of EPSconcrete block masonry. Based on the compression experimental data, we drew the stress-strain curve of EPS concrete block. Compared with the domestic and foreignresearch and according to the logarithmic form and polynomial form, this paperestablished the constitutive relationship of EPS concrete block masonry. According to thetest results, this paper received the EPS concrete block masonry deformation parametersand the best calculating formula of elastic modulus of load-bearing and self-bearingmasonry through regression analysis and theoretical calculations. The article establishedthe best calculating formula of elastic modulus of load-bearing and self-bearingmasonry.And the paper recommended the Poisson's ratio of load-bearing and self-bearingmasonry as0.23and0.19through analysis calculations.The research methods used in this paper were conducted on the basis of masonrystructure theories and complied with the experiment design, theoretical analysis andegression analysis. And these methods have mutual loop verification, fitting the bestmethod of calculation and the calculation formula.
