Kerosene, diesel and other hydrocarbon oil collectors are commonly used in molybdenite flotation,by using these agents the recovery of molybdenite at room temperature(15~30?)is better and more stable, however,at low temperature(the temperature of slurry of ore plants in northern area in winter is generally 3~8?),the recovery of molybdenite would reduce. When using the tailings wastewater with more Ca2+,Mg2+ and other ions as the flotation water, the recovery of molybdenite in winter would reduce greater. In view of the above problems, the conventional flotation tests were carried out.The results showed that, the optimum condition for flotation at room temperature was170g/t of kerosene,90g/t of 2# oil,the mixed concentrate with grade of 3.35% and recovery of 81.22% was obtained. The decrease of temperature would reduce the recovery of molybdenite, the optimum condition for flotation at low temperature was200g/t of kerosene,110g/t of 2# oil,the mixed concentrate with grade of 2.42% and recovery of 78.52% was obtained. Thus,it could be seen that the optimization of the agent system at low temperature could not solve the problem that the recovery of molybdenum was lower in winter.Through the flotation tests of modified kerosene by magnetizing filed,it was definitely settled that the optimum field strength of magnetization was 160kA/m,the optimum time of magnetization was 1min,and the modified kerosene could maintain its better effect within 1.5h.In order to verify whether the modified kerosene was suitable for the condition ofrecycled water, whether it could ensure the increase of recovery of molybdenite throughout the year, the modified kerosene flotation tests were carried out under the condition of recycled water. The result showed that under the condition of recycled water,at room temperature, modified kerosene could improve the recovery of concentrate from77.70% to 79.79%,increasing by 2.02%,at low temperature it could improve the recovery of concentrate from 75.06% to 76.72%,increasing by 1.66%.The effect of modified kerosene was further verified by pure mineral tests, and the results showed that, the magnetization could reduce the surface tension of kerosene, reduce the surface energy of kerosene, thereby enhancing the attraction with molybdenite and improving the collection of molybdenite. After the interaciton of modified kerosene and molybdenite,it could further decrease the absolute value of the surface ? potential of molybdenite, thus, further reducing the polarity of molybdenite and improving its hydrophobicity.
