The activated carbon A was modified by hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid.The modification conditions of activated carbon were optimized by orthogonal experiments.The suitable technology on modification of 10 g activated carbon by 150 mL hydrogen peroxide:the concentration of hydrogen peroxide was 1 mol/L,modification temperature was 30 0C,modification time was 4 h,the caramel decolorization rate had increased by 500%,the methylene cyanine adsorption value had increased by 59.72%,the adsorption on phenol had increased by 32.52%,the iodine adsorption value had increased by 15.10%.The suitable technology on modification of 10 g activated carbon by 150 mL nitric acid:the concentration of nitric acid was 1 mol/L,modification temperature was 30 0C,modification time was 1 h,the caramel decolorization rate had increased by 400%,the methylene cyanine adsorption value had increased by 31.94%,the adsorption on phenol had fellen by 18.08%.The brown sugar solution and molasses solution was decolored by activated clay,activated carbin B,combination of them and combination of activated clay and modified activated carbin A.The decoloration conditions were optimized by single factor experiment and orthogonal experiments.The suitable technology on decoloration of the 50mL brown sugar solution(5 °Bx)by activated clay:the clay dosage was 4 g,adsorption time was 30 min,adsorption temperature was 50?,the decolorization rate reached 76.01%.The suitable technology on decoloration of the brown sugar solution by activated carbon B:the carbon dosage was 1.125 g,adsorption time was 10 min,adsorption temperature was 70?,the decolorization rate reached 90.74%.The carbon dosage could be saved 66.67%in the decoloration of the brown sugar solution by combination of activated clay and modified activated carbin B.The decolorization rates reached 84.35%and 84.08%in the decoloration of the brown sugar solution by combination of activated clay and modified activated carbin A by hydrogen peroxide or nitric acid.The suitable technology on decoloration of the 50mL molasses solution(5°Bx)by activated clay:the clay dosage was 5 g,adsorption time was 30 min,adsorption temperature was 40?,the decolorization rate reached 26.51%.The suitable technology on decoloration by activated carbon B:the carbon dosage was 4 g,adsorption time was 10 min,adsorption temperature was 50?,the decolorization rate reached 94.95%.The carbon dosage could be saved 50%in the decoloration of the molasses solution by combination of activated clay and modified activated carbin B.The decolorization rates reached 63.12%and 70.59%in the decoloration of the molasses solution by combination of activated clay and modified activated carbin A by hydrogen peroxide or nitric acid.
