Preparation And Characterization Of Inorganic Coating Based On Metakaolin Geopolymer

Geopolymer is a kind of three dimensional structure inorganic polymer composed by alumina tetrahedron and silicon oxygen tetrahedron,which is made up of Metakaolin,slag,alkali excitation agent.Because of its excellent high temperature performance and mechanical performance,the geopolymers could apply in a variety of constructions areas,and the geopolymers coating is one of them.In this paper,adopting the guangxi storage abundant kaolin as raw material,based on the alkali excitation technique,metakaolin base polymer coating was prepared.The coating belongs to inorganic composite materials,the main film forming material for metakaolin and instant sodium silicate,after the examination,the geopolymer powder coating properties can meet the national standard.Firstly,using 1250 mesh metakaolin and 2.0 modulus powdered instant sodium silicate as raw materials to prepare green inorganic binders.When quality of instant sodium silicate(WG)and metakaolin(MK)ratio is 0.85,the water-binder ratio is 0.6,geopolymer binders in the initial setting time of 1.6 h,Pencil hardness greater than 3 H,Good resistance to water and no whiskering phenomenon.Preparation powders coatings based on metakaolin geopolymer.Through the comparison and selection,the binder,talcum powder,rutile titanium dioxide powder as fillers to prepare a coating of green environmental protection.Its contrast ratio could achieve about 0.95 and scrub resistance is also more than 2000 times while the content of fillers was 19.5%the water retention agent was 0.8%and compound modification by adding 3%emulsion powder.In this paper,metakaolin geopolymer was successfully brought into the field of inorganic coatings,which was used as binder,therefore the powder coating based on geopolymer was prepared.The coatings not only has excellent performance,and improve the level of kaolin used in guangxi and added value,has great economic and social benefits.
