With the rapid development of science and technology, the function of traditional coating has been extended and the application has been used in more and more fields. The direction of coatings’function has developed from traditional function of protectiveness and decoration to various other special functions, which made the functional coatings being widely used and became an indispensable superficial material. Instead of persisting in using traditional organic coatings which could bring a serious harm to people’s body and environment, people show more interest in the waterborne-inorganic coatings for its wide material sources and low VOC content. In this paper, using the geopolymer which embodies the properties of early strength, excellent hardness, strong corrosion resistance, low thermal conductivity, volume stability, good durability, good bonding and great plasticity as binder; through adding the pigments, fillers, grading, dispersers, stabilizers properly; and through choosing a suitable production process. The inorganic reflective and heat insulation coating and inorganic zinc-rich coatings are based on geopolymer, which function can come up to the national standard. The preparation and analysis of reflective and heat insulation coatings based on geopolymer:The geopolymer was used as binder, sericite powders, talcum powders, titanium dioxide and hollow glass beads were added as fillers. Various properties of the coating were tested according to the relative standard. The result shows that:this coating harbors good water-retaining property, easily spraying, good durability, dirty resistance, high reflectivity and remarkable heat insulation. Its insulation temperature difference could achieve about24℃, and its reflectivity was above90%while the content of hollow glass beads was6%and the titanium dioxide content was about12%.The coating was used as binder, zinc powder and additives were added. Various properties of the coating were tested according to the related standard. The results show that:the anticorrosion ability of ZRPs increased with the increasing of zinc powder content, but decreased when the zinc powder content increased to a certain extent for spherical or lamellar zinc powder. When the coatings contain55wt%spherical zinc powder or25wt%lamellar zinc powder, zinc powder exhibited good corrosion resistance due to the cathodic protection and barrier effect. However, the coating which made by lamellar zinc particles showed better corrosion resistance than spherical zinc particles. In addition, the dosage of lamellar zinc powder was less.In this paper, the geopolymer was successfully brought into the field of function coatings, which was used as binder, therefore the inorganic reflective and heat insulation coating and inorganic zinc-rich coatings based on geopolymer were prepared. Both of the coatings will have good prospect in development and application, owing to its excellent properties, simple manufacturing technique, low cost environmental protection and environment.
