The process of tundish is one of the important production links in the steel production process.As a transition vessel between ladle and mold,it not only plays a role in storage and diversion,but also has an important significance for improving the purity of molten steel.Install reasonable flow control devices in the tundish can effectively control the flow of molten steel,which is conducive to uniform molten steel,prolong the residence time of molten steel,reduce slag entrapment and promote the collision and flotation of inclusions,so as to improve the quality of continuous casting billets.The research object of the subject is a three flow tundish of a steel plant,the tundish flow field with different structure control flow devices was simulated by the fluid mechanics software Fluent and tundish structure was simulated.Firstly,the effects of three kinds of diversion barriers,a,b,and c,were evaluated according to the numerical simulation results.The results show that the c structure diversion wall is the best in the three diversion wall.However,it still has the disadvantages of large fluctuations in liquid level and low utilization rate of tundish.Secondly,the influence of the parameters of the steel passing hole on the flow of the tundish is analyzed,and the optimization scheme of the diversion barrier is determined by adjusting the parameters of the steel passing hole.It is considered that the No.17 diversion wall is the optimal structure among the 20 design options.After optimization,the volume fraction of the dead zone of the tundish is reduced by 10.52%,the volume fraction of the piston zone is increased by 4.18%,the liquid surface flow in the pouring zone is effectively controlled,and the temperature field is improved.Finally,the flow field in the tundish is further optimized by adding turbulence suppressors with different structures in the tundish.The suppressor control effect of the square turbulence suppression with top edge is considered to be the best.While maintaining a good dead zone and piston zone volume fraction,the effective control of the liquid flow in the injection zone is also achieved,which also improve the quality of the temperature field and reduce the erosion effect of molten steel on the wall surface of the injection zone.
