Research Of Marriage Custom And Wedding Dress Of Miao People In Shidong District And Creative Application Of Them In Costume Design

As one of the most ancient ethnic minorities in China,Miao People has long history and culture,the apparel,etiquette and living habit of them are of their own charisma.Wedding custom is the most centralized embodiment of traditional culture of a nation,and is the indispensable basis for the research of its society and history,economic development and the status quo of people's life.Wedding dress is a carrier integrating history,culture,tradition,aesthetics and technology as a whole,reflecting the spiritual pursuit of Miao People.Miao People's apparel is traditional folk costume with unique charm formed in the long process of historic development,passed on from generation after generation as dynamic historic record of Miao People,therefore,the research of Miao People's apparel is conducive to exploring and analyzing the essence of traditional national costume culture.In this paper,based on investigation of tianye and combined with research of literature,more than hundred years' of wedding culture in Shidong District was concluded and compared,the girls' wedding costumes with most exquisite craftsmanship was researched,and the wedding costume was meticulously studied from the aspects of technology and materials,weaving and knitting method,pattern characteristics,color characteristics,traditional costume aesthetics of Miao People and others.Inspired by superb embodiment of ethnic minority costumes,fashionable innovation and exploration was implemented,the heritage and innovation of costumes were thought over via research,with the aim to provide service for people in modern times as well as spread excellent traditional culture to more areas.In order to cater tothe aesthetic need of modern young people,the simple beauty manifested by traditional handicraft and long history and culture of Miao People should be combined plus innovative design of them,so that a new mode integrating traditional technology,culture heritage and re-creation a whole will be built up.Only fully understand Miao People's costume culture can it be inherited and developed,which will promote the development of Miao People's costume culture in Shidong District to certain extent.
