With the rapid development of automobile industry,energy and environmental issues has become more and more serious.Automobile exhaust thermoelectric generation technology has been used in improving the vehicle energy efficiency and reducing emissions.In order to maximize the thermoelectric performance of the devices and promote the output power of the system,this paper designs an iterative algorithm to optimize the thermoelectric modules' series-parallel topology structure and a new maximum power point tracking(MPPT)algorithm to insure the system work at the maximum power point.The main contents are as follows:The overall structure of automobile exhaust thermoelectric power generation system is designed by analyzing the thermoelectric power generation principle.In order to obtain the real-time voltage data of each module in the thermoelectric power generation system,the pic chip is used to design a voltage measurement circuit.Access database is established to storage the whole voltage data of each module.An iterative algorithm is proposed to optimize the series-parallel electrical topology structure with the optimal objective of maximizing the output power.The output characteristic model of each thermoelectric device is established by testing the open circuit voltage and internal resistance of these thermoelectric devices.Matlab was used to compute the best series-parallel topology structure.The experiment results show that,compared with the series structure,the transformation output power of the optimal topology structure increases by 2.91%.A new maximum power point tracking algorithm which combines Perturbation and Observation method and Binary Interpolating method is designed.The matlab software is used to establish the MPPT simulation models,which are applied to compare the advantages and disadvantages between the Perturbation and Observation method MPPT algorithm and the new MPPT algorithm.The MPPT algorithm is implemented in the hardware platform by programming.The experiment results show that the new MPPT algorithm just needs 200 ms to track the maximum power point and the tracking accuracy is 98.91%.
