34CrNiMo6 high strength steel has high strength and hardness,excellent fatigue and impact resistance,good low temperature toughness and tempering brittleness,so it is widely used in bridges,buildings,ships,vehicles,artillery shells and other engineering structures and military products which require high strength and toughness.The properties of this material make it a kind of typical difficult material to process.In the cutting process of high-strength steel,factors such as high cutting force and high cutting temperature accelerate the tool wear,resulting in low processing efficiency and high production cost,which greatly limits the production and application of high-strength steel.Effective prediction and definition of tool wear characteristics during cutting process,and improved product dimensional accuracy and production efficiency have always been an urgent problem in the field of cutting in our country and abroad.The progress and application of finite element cutting simulation technology lay a foundation for tool wear prediction,and is the key to achieve this topic.The main task of this paper is to study the characteristics of tool wear in cutting process based on the finite element simulation software of AdvantEdge.A tool wear simulation model is established and verified by turning test;The influence of tool geometry angle and cutting parameters on cutting force,cutting temperature and tool flank wear during tool wear process is analyzed by orthogonal simulation test;The empirical formulas of cutting force and cutting temperature for cutting parameters are established respectively.Within the range of selection of suitable high-strength steel cutting parameters,the results show that:(1)The finite element simulation results are consistent with the overall trend of the test results,which verifies the validity of the tool wear simulation model.(2)The cutting force and temperature increase with the increase of tool edge radius,decrease with the increase of tool rake angle,and fluctuate with the increase of tool back angle.The tool cutting edge radius and the tool rake angle have a significant influence on the tool flank wear amount,and the tool back angle has no significant effect on the tool flank wear amount.(3)The cutting force decreases with the increase of cutting speed,increases with the increase of feed and cutting depth,and the cutting temperature increases with the increase of cutting speed,feed and cutting depth in cutting parameters.The cutting speed has the greatest influence on the wear of the tool and the cutting depth has the least impact.
