Coalis an important foundational resource for national economic development, which relates to carbon emissions throughout the entire process of mining to process to last use. With the continuous development of coal mining activities, various environmental factors in the mining area are disturbed to different degrees. For example,a large amount of land subsidence due to coal exploitation, the vegetation on the ground is destroyed, the land use type is changed. In the context of the current low-carbon economy,China needs to achieve low-carbon production and utilization of high-carbon energy in order to achieve the goal of energy saving and pollution reduction as soon as possible and develop a low-carbon economy. As the world's largest coal producer and consumer, the coal sector is an important area for China to develop a low-carbon economy and achieve the goal of energy saving and pollution reduction.Quantitative accounting of the carbon emission caused by coal mining in coal mining area is key to achieving this goal.In order to conduct quantitative accounting of carbon emissions caused by coal mining activities in the mining area, this study takes 11 coal mines in the changhe river basin as the study area, and calculated the carbon emissions of the ecosystem in each mining area caused by coal mining. In this paper, the accounting component is divided into two parts, one is the quantitative calculation of the disturbance of the vegetationsoil carbon pool caused by coal mining in the mining area and, another is the quantitative calculation of carbon emissions by various activities in the whole mining area, such as coal production including each production link in the coal mining process, and residents' daily life including the daily life of mining staff. So that the effect of carbon emissions due to coal mining in the whole mining area is investigated. The main conclusions are as follows.?1?By establishing the carbon emission accounting model of the regional natural ecosystem caused by coal mining in the study area,it is calculated that the carbon emission in the natural ecosystem of the research area caused by coal mining in 2015 is 5626.47 t CO2 e.?2?In 2015,the total carbon emission of social and economic system in the study area caused by coal mining to the production and living of the mining area was 314881.86 t CO2 e.The main carbon emission sources were the consumption of electricity and the overflow and dispersion of methane in the coal bed gas in the mining area.?3?In the study area, the total carbon emissions from coal mining in 2015 was 320508.33 t CO2 e,and the annual coal production was 7.2 million tons. Therefore, the carbon emissions from mining areas caused by mining one ton of coal in the study area were 44.52 kg CO2e/t.Based on the analysis of the research results, this paper shows the study of the carbon emission structure of the mining area.Combined with the actual situation of mining and the current situation of land use in study area, effective emission reduction measures for the studied mining area are proposed, providing reference for future carbon emission reduction research in other mining areas.
