Emolight:Interaction Design For An Intelligent Ambient Home Lighting Generation Based On Music Emotions

Music can evoke and influence people’s emotions.As a common visualization form of music,lighting often comes together with music to cause a multi-dimensional impact on people.The application of music and lighting in family scenes is very promising.But the current product such as the intelligent speaker with lighting whose expression effect and intelligence level is limited,still have room for improvement.This thesis came up with an idea to transfer stage lighting into the design of the ambient home lighting in order to make it more expressive.Combined with the technology of intelligent lighting generation based on music emotion,we want to generate the lighting that matches music emotions best.In the existing research of emotion-driven intelligent lighting generation,there is not much work has been done on lighting actions,therefore this thesis is focusing on lighting actions and proposing a better methodology of lighting generation based on lighting actions.The main contributions and innovation of this thesis are as follow:(1)Building a lighting action data base through theory and research.The lighting action data base includes five basic actions:horse running,crossing,stretching,wave and rotation,with its universality verified;(2)Exploring the relationship between lighting actions and music emotions through experiments.In experiment,90 songs with emotion data were matched to five lighting actions,subjects were asked to score the match degree for them.The emotions and suitable emotion areas of five lighting actions are known through data analysis and the conclusions are verified by validation experiment;(3)Optimizing the cues of lighting generation,adding lighting action to the new methodology of lighting generation based on music emotion.The experiment proves that the light generated by this methodology is more consistent with the emotion of music,which brings people a better immersive audio-visual experience and has more positive impact on people.The main innovation of this thesis is that it came up with a new idea of stage lighting migration for household use,explored and experimentally studied the lighting action,proved that the lighting generation methodology with lighting actions has better effect.This thesis covers many fields such as the interaction of music and lighting,music emotion recognition,intelligent lighting generation and so on.It also has certain reference significance for music emotion interaction,lighting and the field of visualization,it also has academic value and application prospects.
