Research On Food Risk Communication Strategies Of Y Township From The Perspective Of Communication

In this Internet era of information explosion,food safety knowledge is still lacking in the western rural areas of China,presenting a serious digital divide phenomenon.The township food and drug administration,the supervised units and the villagers are,more often than not,in a state of insufficient communication in terms of food risk communication.The consequences of inadequate communication among the three parties are various: it adds to the difficulty of food safety supervision work;there can be no effective food safety risk prevention mechanism;and food safety accidents are unavoidable.The food risk information is,therefore,a matter of great urgency,arduousness and importance.The present thesis is a case study of Y Town in Gansu Province;it makes comprehensive use of field research,questionnaires,statistical analysis and other research methods.The thesis begins with a detailed description of the current status of food risk communication in Y Township: the local government and the township food and drug administration have not paid enough attention to this work;there is a lack of professionals;the sources of food safety risks in Y Town are complex and diverse;the communication between the township food and drug administration and the food safety supervision units and villagers is not effective;there is a shortage of communication media;the localization of communication content is insufficient;the early warning mechanism of risk communication is not activated;and the risk communication effect is not good and sound.The thesis then continues with an analysis of the correlation of the main body of food risk communication in Y Township.The township food and drug administration,the supervised units and the villagers are of the supervisor-supervised relationship,resulting in the passivity of communication.Problems concerning the food and drug administration are inadequacy of institutional construction,insufficiency of communication skills,and unfamiliarity with business.Issues related to the supervised units and villagers are low economic status,low education level,low risk perception level,low trust in the administration,low participation in communication,etc.These and other causes are responsible for the lack and failure of communication among the three parties.In accordance with the analysis results of the survey data,the author of this thesis has proposed six communication strategies as a solution to the above-mentioned problems and issues: differentiated communication,localized communication,all-media communication,construction of risk communication mechanism,promotion of care and trust,and application of communication skills.The findings,strategies and solutions as presented in this thesis are,so to speak,to provide useful references for relevant food and drug administration,and to promote the food risk communication work of the tree related parties.
