Polishing as the final process of parts manufacturing is very vital in ensuring the surface quality of workpieces.Up to now,diversified polishing technology have been developed,however,there are still some problems,such as,rigid external requirement,high processing cost,the polishing tool cannot fit well on the surface of parts and so on.To solve these issues,a new polishing tool with negative compressibility is designed in this paper.Unlike conventional structures,under hydrostatic pressure,structure with negative compressibility will expand at least one direction rather than contract in every direction,based on the character,introducing negative compressibility to polishing tool and carrying out relevant experimental research.The main work and conclusions are as follows:1.Based on Two-dimensional honeycomb structure,Three-dimensional honeycomb structure is studied.There are two ways to fill space,uniform arrangement and array arrangement.The elastic modulus,Poisson's ratio and coefficient of compressibility.Reference to the formula,it is analyzed that there is a relationship between the angle and length of the bar,in which direction you increase the bar,negative compressibility will be increased in that direction,but negative compressibility in vertical direction will be reduced.It is also found that negative compressibility in uniform arrangement is better than that in array arrangement when the value of h/l is same.2.It is selected that 3D honeycomb structure with uniform arrangement as the core unit of polishing tool,according to the formula,the parameters of structure are designed to achieve maximum negative compressibility,then finite element model is established and simulation results are obtained.Finally,the structure is manufactured using 3D printing and the deformation of the structure was measured by applying Three-direction force to verify the validity and accuracy of the model.3.The polishing tool with negative compressibility is designed based on 3D honeycomb in uniform arrangement,then the finite element simulation was carried out to analyze the stress and deformation.It is necessary to conduct a contrast experiment,the workpieces with the same surface quality were polished in the condition of conventional tool and the tool with negative compressibility respectively.It is shown that the contour arithmetic mean deviation of the workpiece is lower using the tool with negative compressibility,which verified that negative compressibility polishing tool has a better working effect on the workpiece.In the end,it is discussed the effect of polishing time,machine speed and grinding particle size on the surface quality of part by orthogonal test.After using variance analysis,the main and secondary factors are as follows: grinding particle,machine speed,working time.And it also obtained a group of optimum process parameters: grinding particle size W1,machine speed 80 rpm,polishing time 40 min.
