The rapid development of China's economy and the improvement of the urbanization process on the one hand has caused the rapid consumption of fossil energy,on the other hand,has brought about the increase of kitchen waste.The manufacturing of hydrogen and other clean energy is the direction of national focus.Based on the principle of microbial anaerobic fermentation for hydrogen production,a UASB reactor strengthened by activated carbon with different particle sizes was constructed.Research data show that the medium temperature(35 plus or minus 2 0C)under the condition of kitchen waste crushing wastewater as the substrate through timely adjusting HRT and water COD concentration can be formed in 31 d inner UASB reactor type ethanol fermentation hydrogen production system,it can be finished within 59 d reactor granular activated sludge process.Activated carbon granules with particle size between 130-140 mesh and 80?90 mesh can be used to strengthen and initiate the formation of ethanol-type fermentation hydrogen production system within 18d,and the activated sludge granulation process can be completed within 48d.The UASB reactor started by activated carbon granule was tested,and the fermentation hydrogen production performance was better than that of the ordinary UASB reactor.The maximum stable organic load for the treatment of kitchen waste water was measured to be 36kg/(m3·d),and the maximum gas production in the stable operation stage was 23.21/d with two boxes.By comparing the blank group and controlling the particle size as variables,it was found that in the process of starting the operation of the UASB reactor in the kitchen waste comminuting wastewater,the effect of particle size between 80?90 objective granular activated carbon and 130?140 objective granular activated carbon was similar,and was significantly stronger than that between 10?20 objective granular activated carbon.The process of UASB anaerobic fermentation to produce hydrogen has a low COD treatment efficiency in the treatment of kitchen waste comminution wastewater.However,it can treat kitchen waste resource at the same time and provide clean energy.With low operating cost,it has the potential to complete industrialization by combining with other sewage treatment processes.
