A Study On China’s Petroleum Diplomatic Strategy From The Perspective Of Geopolitics

Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China has made remarkable achievements,overcome unimaginable difficulties and withstood the onset of the global financial crisis like a wild animal.GDP officially surpassed Japan to become the world’s second largest economy in 2010.While gaining a series of achievements,we are also facing the challenges of a more complex and changeable international environment.McKinley,a British geopolitician,said: "The hinterland of Eurasia,including Central Asia,will be the decisive point of global strategic competition." Oil is an important factor in international politics,affecting the policy-making of countries and the changes in relations between countries.This paper will focus on China’s petroleum strategy,interpret the game process of petroleum politics under the background of regional strategic competition of big powers,structural contradictions between China and the United States and regional economic cooperation from the perspective of geopolitics,discuss the risks and challenges that China’s petroleum diplomacy strategy may face,and put forward corresponding ideas on how to meet the challenges and promote China’s petroleum diplomacy strategy.This paper consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background and purpose,the research status at home and abroad,the research methods and the innovation of the research.The second part describes China’s oil diplomacy strategy.The third part analyses the geopolitical challenges facing China’s petroleum diplomacy.The fourth part,in order to meet the geopolitical challenges,explores the basic ideas and Strategies of promoting oil diplomacy between China and other countries and regions,such as the United States,Russia,the Middle East and Africa.
