Carbon dots,a new type of fluorescent carbon nano-materials,have shown more different properties from traditional carbon materials,such as excellent luminescence property,good biocompatibility and low bio-toxicity.Thus,it is widely used in modern rising science and technology.In this study,two kinds of fluorescent carbon dots were prepared by the traditional Chinese medicinal materials.The prepared carbon dots were analyzed by a series of characterizations,and applied to colorimetric detection,ion sensing,and bio-imaging.1.A simple strategy has been developed to produce green fluorescent carbon dots by one-step hydrothermal method using honeysuckle as a carbon precursor.The carbon dots have shown good water solubility,and their fluorescence emission can be obviously quenched by Fe3+ with a significant colorimetric effect.Based on the study above,carbon dots can be designed as a highly efficient Fe3+ fluorescent probe.In addition,the sensor is extended to the SMMC-7721 cell in vitro,which lays a good foundation for its application in biomedicine.2.A convenient method has been proposed for the preparation of yellow-green fluorescent carbon dots by hydrothermal treatment of mint.The prepared carbon dots showed yellow-green fluorescence at 470 nm excitation,and their fluorescence was effectively quenched by Fe3+ in aqueous solution.The detection linear range of detection was 25-225 ?M,and the detection limit was 37 n M.At the same time,,human neuroblast cells PC-12 and E.coli were stained by.carbon dots.
