The advanced passive PWR of AP1000 utilizes site radwaste treatment facilities(SRTF)to collect and treat radioactive waste which NI cannot deal with. For example, the chemical waste with high salt content cannot be treated by the resin exchange bed of liquid waste treatment system in NI.In order to handle this kind of liquid radwaste, the heat pump evaporation and a kit of small heat pump evaporator are developed in this paper by incorporating the typical heat pump technology and evaporating process of liquid waste. This equipment can recycle potential enthalpy of the secondary steam and save lots of energy for the reason of avoiding use of fresh steam.Using the basic theory of thermal dynamics and knowledge of heat pump evaporation, this paper finished the research work of the process design, equipment manufacture and prototype experiments of small heat pump evaporator with combination of theoretical analysis and experiment verification. The research has overcome the difficulties of equipment manufacture and complicated experiments.Through the equipment experiments, the heat pump evaporator can reach the required performance to treat liquid radwaste, and obtained two patents in form of utility models and passed the official appraisal of Nuclear Energy Industry Association.
