SAN(or AS)resin is a thermoplastic resin obtained by copolymerization of two main components of styrene and acrylonitrile.SAN resin combines the advantages of both,not only hard and easy to process,but also chemically and thermally stable.SAN resin is mainly used in household appliances,instrument panels,lenses,buttons and electrical parts.The biggest drawback is its low elongation at break and poor impact strength,which greatly limits its range of applications.Therefore,research on toughening modification of SAN resin is particularly important.In this paper,three kinds of impact modifiers,chlorinated polyethylene(CPE),acrylate(ACR)and ABS high-adhesive powder,were added to study the toughening effect of SAN resin.The biggest shortcoming of CPE is that it is easy to be decomposed by heat.Firstly,through the comparative study of various stabilizers,the effect of calcium-zinc composite stabilizer on the thermal stability of CPE is selected.The comparison of zinc stearate and calcium stearate is mainly investigated.The impact of SAN resin properties.Furthermore,the effects of different chlorine content of CPE and CPE on SAN resin were studied.The SAN/CPE blends with different gel content were prepared by melt extrusion extrusion through twin-screw extruder.The results show that when the chlorine content is 35% and the CPE content is 25%,the prepared SAN resin has better impact performance and excellent comprehensive performance.Such materials have unique flame retardancy.Then the flame retardant ACS was prepared and its properties were studied.The effect of the amount of flame retardant on the properties of ACS resin was analyzed.Then,the toughening effect of ACR on SAN resin was studied.The SAN modified resin with different rubber content was prepared by melt blending and extruding through twin-screw extruder.The effects of different rubber content on the toughening of SAN resin were studied.The processing properties,mechanical properties and heat resistance were studied.Theresults showed that the best effect was obtained when the rubber content was 25%.Materials such as SAN/ACR are slightly less fluid to process,but have excellent weatherability.Finally,the toughening effect of ABS high rubber powder on SAN resin was studied.The results show that the blend has excellent performance when the rubber content is 25%.Materials such as SAN/ABS have good processing properties.The biggest disadvantage is that butadiene contains double bonds,resulting in poor weather resistance and easy degradation under the action of ultraviolet light.
