Application Of Diatomite In Asphalt Pavement And Drilling Waste Treatment

Diatomite is an abundant mineral resource and is widely used in many fields.It is meaningful to explore the application of diatomite in asphalt pavement and drilling waste treatment from the perspective of road construction materials and environment protection.Therefore,the influence of diatomite grade,base asphalt grade and oil source on the properties of diatomite modified asphalt was analyzed on the basis of asphalt property test.Then,difference of modification effect caused by characteristic of diatomite and base asphalt can be clarified.At the same time,the treatment of drilling wastes produced during geothermal well exploration process in some region is very difficult and the liquid discharged by using method of solid-liquid separation to treat waste is in high content of COD and heavy metals,in response to this problem,attempt which combined adsorption ability of diatomite and method of solid-liquid separation were conducted to reduce pollutant content in the liquid discharged after separation.Furthermore,the pollutant treatment effect of purified diatomite and its modified products can be measured through physical and chemical test and analysis.Through analysis and discussion on the application of diatomite in asphalt pavement and drilling waste treatment,some results can be concluded as follows:(1)The differences of mineral processing products of diatomite were revealed from the perspective of morphology,elememt and mineral composition.And that established a theoretical foundation for analyzing the effect of diatomite quality on the properties of modified asphalt;the modified products of purified diatomite were produced successfully and characteristic Variations of purified diatomite before and after modification had been clarified.And that laid a foundation for analyzing the influence of purified diatomite modification or not on the treatment effect and mechanism of drilling waste.(2)The influence of diatomite quality,asphalt grade and oil source on the properties of modified asphalt can be clarified basing on the results of asphalt's softening point and DSR tests before and after modification.It offered a guide towards choosing the proper diatomite and base asphalt.(3)According to the high & low temperature and aging properties test results of diatomite modified high grade base asphalt,the application feasibility of diatomite modified asphalt in seasonal freezing region was estimated.(4)Through the test and analysis of effect and process of drilling waste treatment which combined the adsorption of purified diatomite and its modified products and solid-liquid separation method,the effect of purified diatomite and its modified products can be indicated.This research also offered a new approach to treat drilling waste(waste water-based mud).
