Comprehensive analyses of the space-time distribution and influence factors of urban traffic carbon emission are critical in achieving low-carbon transportation. This dissertation takes urban road traffic system as research object, comprehensively studied the space-time distribution and influence factors of traffic-related carbon emissions by constructing the carbon emission mobile monitoring system. The research result may help to further reduce the traffic-related carbon emissions and lay the foundation for low carbon oriented urban traffic system. This paper started from the design of a carbon emission mobile monitoring system using multiple sets of equipment and collected the corresponding traffic flow, meteorology, vehicular emissions and driving characteristics data on typical roads in Shanghai and Wuxi,Jiangsu province. In the study of quantification of vehicle emissions, the dissertation analyzed the space-time distribution and influence factors of traffic carbon emission at microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic levels. In microscopic level, various sensitivity and correlation evaluation indexes were introduced to reveal the major influence factors of carbon emission, such as vehicle operating condition. In mesoscopic level, the emission model MOVES was calibrated using measured traffic flow and meteorology data collected from the mobile monitoring schemes,so that the emission factors of CO,CO2 and HC were calculated by taking passenger car as a case.In macroscopic level, the urban traffic carbon emission was assessed quantitatively using IPCC bottom-up and top-down model, and the total amounts of CO,CO2 and HC emission coming from passenger cars in 2014 in Shanghai were calculated as 8271.91,76.95 and2.13 kt,respectively.During the vehicle carbon emissions distribution study, the major factors that influence urban traffic carbon emissions were identified, including meteorogical condition, terrain and traffic flow.According to the functional mechanism of the major factors on the carbon diffusion,Gauss linear source model,CALINE4 model and AERMOD model were introduced to quantify the distribution of carbon emissions in different spatial scale, taking open road, intersection, and CBD area as cases. The research revealed the space-time distribution and influence factors of urban road traffic emission, quantifying the carbon emission amount and distribution in different time-space scales. The proposed mobile monitoring schemes and carbon emissions quantification method are of rather guiding significance for the urban low-carbon transportation development. The results could contribute to grasping the carbon emission trend of urban transportation emissions and playing a fundamental role in the development of low carbon oriented urban traffic management and control system.
