Developed from Rapid Manufacturing technology combining with laser cladding,Laser Cladding Rapid Manufacturing is an emerging technology and can be comprehensively taken advantage of on many fields such as manufacturing new parts or repairing broken ones.Especially on forming parts with thin-wall structure,LCRM has its unique and irreplaceable advantages.Researches in this paper are listed below:(1)Responsible Surface Method(RSM)is used to analyze the qualitative as well as quantitive relationships between the appearance of single cladding layer such as cladding height,cladding width and aspect ratio,with those process parameters such as laser power,powder-feeding and scanning velocity.And several mathematical models are put forward in this paper to describe them,also Analysis of Variance(ANOVA)has been undertaken to make sure that those models are adequately precise and truthful.(2)"Birth & Death" algorithm,for simulating the powder's step-by-step deposition on the baseboard,is used to analyze the distribution as well as evolvement of the temperature field during cladding process in ANSYS On the basis of weld pool's temperature,a feedback mechanism for laser power is proposed by conditional commands in APDL,which would help on stabilizing weld pool's temperature in Laser Forming process.(3)Two main ways of scan trajectories for thin-wall laser formation have been discussed.Compared with one-directional way,bi-directional scan trajectory is more preferable,for it making cladding layers' head and tail complement with each other.An improved project is put forward in this paper,which could effectively eliminate the terminal bumps on the laser-forming parts.(4)A thin-wall structure is manufactured by LCRM on the basis of previous research.Optimized parameter set has been used;Temperature control measure is also taken under the instruction of numerical simulation result in ANSYS.The improved bi-directional scanning trajectory is also adopted.Finally,the laser-forming thin wall part has a smooth,straight surface,with high surface quality.
