PdNPore is a new kind of heterogeneous catalyst. It has a three-dimensional bicontinuous network structure with a pore diameter of about 1?50 nm,which leads to high surface area, stable structure, high recyclability, and rather simple recovery. We first report the hydrogenation of imines by using PdNPore as a heterogeneous catalyst and H2 as hydrogen source. The results show that under the optimized conditions?1atm H2,5 mol%PdNPore,EtOH,30oC and 24 h?,the highly efficient and selective hydrogenation of various imines proceed smoothly to afford the corresponding secondary amine in 90?96%yields.The catalytic system shows good functional group tolerance, such as methyl, methoxyl, cyanide, and hydroxyl remained intact during the hydrogenation of imines. The PdNPore catalyst can be easily recoverable and reused several times without any loss of catalytic activity and leaching.
