There are many kinds of wood products for daily use in our country,such as tableware,furniture,daily life and so on,ranging from beds,cabinets,tables,cups,plates,bowls and spoons,all have their own unique shapes and uses.Poplar,red date wood,Juglans regia and so on are used to produce wood products with suitable uses and shapes according to the specific toughness and color of wood.Wood,as a natural material,has been deeply loved by people for its natural texture,simple texture and practicability.Xinjiang is rich in intangible cultural heritage.Sites around Tarim region are an important part of Xinjiang intangible cultural heritage.There are a large number of daily-use wooden articles unearthed in the sites around the Tarim region.Niya ruins,Zagunluk Cemetery,Sampras Cemetery,the ancient City of Loulan Site,Yingpan Cemetery,Xiaohe Cemetery,etc.,all have unearthed a large number of daily-use wooden articles,including Wooden Bowl,wooden cups,wooden spoons,wooden boxes,wooden comb,wooden tables,etc.Their exquisite shapes and rich types fully demonstrate the profound cultural details of Xinjiang’s wooden arts and crafts.With the continuous development and inheritance of daily-use wooden wares,their functions change from simple to complex,and their pattern elements and shapes are constantly diversified.Daily-use wooden wares not only become the necessities of people’s life,but also are loved by local residents and tourists as collectibles and handicrafts,bearing the emotional pursuit of simplicity and natural beauty.In line with the trend of national cultural development,wood craft can be better protected and inherited,which can further better promote the innovative development of traditional wood craft,integrate traditional cultural connotation into modern people’s life,and radiate new vitality of traditional culture.In this paper,the area around Tarimis geographically defined as including Hotan,Kashgar,Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture and Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture.Based on the on-the-spot investigation of Kashgar Handicraft Street,Bazhou Museum,Korla Folk Culture Museum,Urumqi Handicraft Store and Akto County Handicraft Store,the article sorts out and summarizes the types and shapes of local woodware.On-the-spot investigation of the local museum and sorting out the household wooden wares in the unearthed cultural relics;In Kashgar Handicraft Street,I participated in pyrography of wood patterns,and personally practiced the making tools and patterns of daily wood.Hotan craftsmen were interviewed,and the wood making process and material selection were supplemented and perfected.Through pattern analysis,the cultural connotation and decorative aesthetic art embodied in wood patterns for daily life are analyzed and studied.Decorative aesthetic art is the core part of traditional handmade woodwork.In today’s Internet era,we need to make more efforts to inherit and protect traditional handicraft,a treasure of Chinese culture.The state strongly encourages and supports the inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritage.On the road of inheritance and protection,we should take the cultural connotation of traditional handicraft as the core and combine it with modern creative elements,inheritance and protection methods and sales channels to develop daily living wooden wares around Tarim region for a longer and more stable period.
