An Analysis Of Visual Language And An Extended Design On Carving Paper-cut In Hubei

Carved paper-cutting has been handed down as a traditional folk craftsmanship in Hubei.It has followed the traces of farming production and people's life.It has a variety of expressions and diverse shapes,and it contains profound folk craftsmanship value and ornamental value.Hubei carved paper-cut papers have been circulated in Wuhan,Fuyang,Xiaogan,Ezhou and other places.Since the Ming Dynasty,paper-cutting has been made from scissors,and the carving method has been developed in the Qing Dynasty with a small knife.It includes two methods: “cutting” and “carving”.The cut flower is made of ordinary scissors.The carving is made by using a diagonal chisel,which overlaps more than ten layers of paper under the original sample and is carved on the wax board.It has the characteristics of slender,complicated and neat.In addition,since the carvings are mostly used in embroidery,and the traditional patterns of the daily life of the people are more,mainly for the rural women to make the bottom artwork for embroidery,the carved paper-cut is also called "pattern".Due to the complexity of the creation of cut paper,long production time,relatively high price,it is not common in people's daily life.However,in June 2008,the carved paper-cut of Hubei was published by the State Council as a directory of national-level intangible cultural heritage expansion projects.The gradual fading and precious carvings of paper-cutting caused social concern.Sorting and excavating it is an indispensable part of our understanding of the technique of carving and cutting paper,and also an initiative to promote Hubei folk art.His research involves the content of folk art,fine arts,design,and semiotics.Through literature review,field investigation,questionnaire survey,case analysis and practical design method,this paper constructs the framework of the paper from the historical origins of Hubei carved paper-cutting,visual language application analysis,techniques and modeling methods.Taking the "carving" technique description as a clue,combing the unique thinking mode and expression form of the carved paper-cutting paper,combined with the expansive(practical)design,I would like to apply the carved paper-cutting paper to Wenchuang products.Because the research of carved paper-cutting is a practical subject,it has relative practical requirements.Through the styles of carved paper-cut objects,birds,flowers,and beasts,the design of the allusions and legends of the relevant towns is combined with modern graphics.Design and apply it.It expands the audience's awareness of the carved paper-cut culture and protects and inherits the folk art of Hubei carved paper-cut.
