The proposal of Belt and Road Initiative has an obvious driving effect on the economic growth of some provinces in China, and the economic development of a region is bound to bring about environmental pollution, among which the most obvious one is the carbon emission. Therefore,in order to better improve the regional economic development and environmental protection, this paper will take the area covered by Belt and Road Initiative as the representative, mainly study the situation of the northwest, northeast and southwest.Firstly, the carbon emission intensity and per capita carbon emissions are taken as the carbon emission indicators, and the difference of carbon emissions in different regions is calculated by using the Terre index method. The results show that there are great differences in carbon emissions among different regions.Within the region, the differences in carbon emissions in the provinces covered by Northwest China are increasing year by year, while the differences in carbon emissions in the northeast and southwest regions are decreasing year by year. Then the SVAR model is used to decompose the differences of carbon emissions in the three regions. The impulse response and variance decomposition results are used to determine whether the impact response between carbon emission intensity and energy structure, energy intensity and industrial structure is the same as that of the impact response between carbon emission intensity and energy structure, energy intensity and industrial structure.Similarly, the carbon emission intensity is mainly affected by the impact of these three factors, which is first positive and then negative, then tends to zero, and the three factors are mainly affected by the impact of carbon emission intensity, which is first negative and then positive and then tends to zero. Finally,in order to find out the factors that affect the difference of carbon emissions more comprehensively, this paper models each of the three regions from the perspective of LMDI decomposition, and further explores the influencing factors of the differences in carbon emissions. It is known that population and economic development factors can increase carbon emissions in all three regions, and carbon emission coefficient factors can reduce carbon emissions in all three regions,so as to put forward more comprehensive suggestions on carbon emissions in three regions.
