The origins of the sleeping pillow can be traced back to the stone and straw bales used to prop up the head during rest in ancient times,when the"sleeping pillow"only achieved the basic function of supporting the head and neck.With the development of the society and the acceleration of the pace of life,as a pillow that directly touches the head,neck and other important parts of the body,it is endowed with more expectations.The pillow not only maintains its basic functions of supporting the head and neck,but also meets our needs for comfort.Based on this,this study will focus on the compression performance of the pillow which is closely related to the overall comfort.The research content of this paper includes the following aspects:?1?Basing on market research,it was found that the current sleeping pillow production mode belongs to"fill",fill the quantity depends on the experience of the producer,the way is easy to cause sleeping pillow in use process problems such as collapse,head center of gravity be unsteady,so the research focus has to do with these problems sleeping pillow compression performance research;?2?The Instron3365 electronic universal material testing machine has been properly modified,which has created conditions for testing the compression performance of sleeping pillow.In addition,the testing conditions for testing the compression performance of the sleeping pillow by using Instron3365 electronic universal material testing machine are explored,and the testing conditions for the compression performance of the sleeping pillow are obtained:the load range is 100N,the pressure head adopts a circular pressure head with a diameter of 6cm,the maximum compression load is 35N,and the compression speed is 120mm/min.?3?Study on objective compression performance of sleeping pillow.The compressive properties of 18 pillows with three sleeping pillow heights?13cm,16cm and 19cm?of down,hollow cotton,cold memory cotton particles,feather,buckwheat and pearl cotton were tested and analyzed.Fifteen sleeping pillow heights?13cm,14cm,16cm,18cm,19cm?of down,hollow cotton and cold memory cotton particles were used as experimental materials.The influence of sleeping pillow height on the compressive properties of sleeping pillows is discussed in depth.The results show that when the pillow core material is the same,the different sleeping pillow height has an impact on the compressive performance of the pillow,especially on the height change of the pillow.Taking down sleeping pillow,hollow cotton sleeping pillow and memory cotton granular pillow as examples,the linear fitting formulas of height change and sleeping pillow height are y=-0.531x+19.42,y=-0.741x+23.87 and y=-0.316x+14.60,respectively,where y represents height change and x represents sleeping pillow height.?4?Subjective evaluation experiment and result analysis of sleeping pillow.Six subjects were selected to evaluate the comfort of 18 experimental pillows with 3 pillow heights?13 cm,16 cm and 19 cm?of 6 pillow core materials.The results were as follows:1)The down pillow and hollow cotton pillow with a pillow height of 16 cm had the highest overall comfort score,with a score of 3.5 and 3.3,and the buckwheat pillow with a pillow height of 19 cm had the lowest score,with a score of 1,indicating that the subjects preferred medium-height and softer pillows.2)The scores of individual evaluation indexes of sleeping pillow were affected by the height of pillow,and the soft and hard comfort of down pillow was greatly affected by the height of pillow,and decreased with the increase of the height of pillow;while the apparent height of pillow had a greater impact on the fitness and oppression of buckwheat pillow,and with the increase of the apparent height,the fitness decreased and the sense of oppression increased;3)down pillow,hollow cotton pillow and pearl cotton pillow were in the pillow.When the height is 16 cm,the overall comfort is the highest.Cotton pillow,feather pillow and buckwheat pillow with cold memory can get the highest overall comfort when the pillow height is 13 cm.The above conclusion shows that the overall comfort of the pillow is affected by both the apparent pillow height and pillow core material.?5?Head and neck contour and size data were obtained by three-dimensional scanner and Martin's measuring instrument.According to the kyphosis,subjects were divided into two types:pointed and flat head.Head and neck of pointed subjects were susceptible to the influence of pillow height and pressure.Flat head subjects were more sensitive to the softness and hardness of pillows.In addition,the degree of backfat accumulation will affect the subjects'evaluation of supine pillow height.People with strong backs will be accustomed to using pillows with high pillows.The above shows that it is reasonable to choose pillows according to the head type,and when evaluating the comfort of pillows,it is necessary to combine the analysis of the physiological structure of human head and neck.?6?Subjective and objective comprehensive evaluation of sleeping pillow compression comfort.The results of compression performance test and subjective evaluation of compression comfort of sleeping pillow were correlated.It was found that the overall comfort y was strongly correlated with compression work x1,compression recovery work x2 and height variation x3,respectively.The fitting formulas were as follows:1)y=0.01x1+1.65,y=0.668lnx2-0.196 and y=-0.53x3+0.106x32-0.005x33+2.541;2)the softness and hardness y1,fitness y2 in subjective evaluation indexes.Compression linearity x5 and compression recovery rate x4 in objective compression indexes have strong and moderate correlation respectively.The fitting formulas are y1=2.767lnx5+4.006,y2=1.749lnx4+4.040,and adjusted R2 is 0.72 and 0.54,respectively.Through the above relationship formula,the comfort of the pillow can be calculated by testing the objective compression index of the pillow.
