Textile productions have instigated deliberation of using natural dyes, for dyeing and printing of textile goods,to provide the biodegradable atmosphere.Interest in green technologies had led to renewed consideration of natural dyes for textile coloration, because they are biodegradable and do not involve manufacturing process requiring genotoxic aromatic amines. The natural dyes are non-hazardous,ecological friendly and have better compatibility with the environment. The harmful and sometimes poisonous substance used in textile are now being under strict inspection because of chemical origin of synthetic dye,at the same time and for hygienic point of view, effluents produced by the dye houses are environmentally rejected.Due to carcinogenic effect of synthetic dyes, the green minded consumers are back to natural dyes. The tradition of natural dyes for pigmentation has accomplished devotion in current years due to their green setting. Therefore in the current study, the extraction from orange peel using soxhlet extraction method has been used as a natural dye for coloring Tencel fabric samples.Premordanting and post-mordanting methods were accomplished with two different mordants,i.e.ferrous sulphate and copper sulphate. The dying shade effects were retrieved through color fastness properties according to the ISO standardizations. The results revealed that best color shade(K/S: 4.56)was achieved with using mordant ferrous sulphate through post-mordanting method. The effect of lightfastness on all dyed Tencel fabric samples was good(3-4)in both mordanting methods. However, mordant ferrous sulphate revealed better lightfastness(4)than copper sulphate(3-3.5)through both mordanting methods.Comparatively,in the rubbing fastness, copper sulphate has superior results in both mordanting methods. The ferrous and copper sulphates in both mordanting methods have similar tests results(4.5)of washing fastness, acidic and alkaline perspiration.Furthermore,FTIR test substantiated that not any structural change occurred through orange peel dyed Tencel fabric samples through both methods. In overall, the best results of colorfastness for Tencel fabric samples were obtained with ferrous sulphate mordant through postmordanting extraction method.Solicitation of natural dyes is growing day by day due to ecological pleasant and informal application on cellulose fibers. In this second study, the natural dye from the Marigold flower “Tageteserecta L” was extracted through pre-mordanting and post-mordanting methods using Soxhlet extraction apparatus. The extracted natural dye was applied on Lyocell fabric with five different metallic salts for the dye fixation. It was observed that different color shade depth was achieved with different fixing agents. The color shade depth(k/s)washing fastness, light fastness, rubbing fastness, perspiration and FTIR test of all dyed samples were excellent by pre and post both mordanting methods. There was no noticeable difference between post and pre mordanting fixation results. However, the results revealed that mordant ferrous sulphate had higher k/s value as compared to the other all mordants. The dye extracted from marigold flower showed good dyeing efficiency with mordant to excellent color fastness tests.FTIR results evidenced that there was no structural change in Lyocell fabrics, before and after dyeing processes. Thus, natural dye extracted from Marigold has shown good color fastness properties without damaging fiber structure. The objectives of this research study is to dye Tencel fabric with natural dye extracted from orange peel and marigold flower for comparative analysis of color efficiencies(K/S),CIE L*a*b* values and the color fastness properties.Soxhlet extraction process were used for dye extraction from orange peel and marigold flower.Ferrous sulphate and copper sulphate were used as mordant agents on extracted dye from orange peel whereas metallic salts(mordanting agents)potash alum, potash dichromate, copper sulphate, stannous chloride and ferrous sulphate were used on the operation of dye extracted dye from marigold flower(Tageteserecta L)through two different mordanting methods named pre-mordanting and post-mordanting.
