With the shortage of light oil resources,the exploitation of heavy oil is becoming a trend.During the gathering and transportation process,the heavy oil and water will be disturbed,and the emulsion will also be formed due to the action of emulsifier.The physical properties of oil-water emulsion are of great significance for gathering and transportation technology,pipeline network design and working condition analysis.In the process of preparation of oil and water emulsion,the properties of the emulsion are different,so it is of great engineering significance to prepare the emulsions that are similar to the field.The properties of heavy oil and water emulsions are very different for different water-oil-ratios,different stirring conditions and different stirring temperatures.The main focus in the paper is the preparation method of heavy-oil-water emulsion and emulsion viscosity prediction correlation.Simulated experiments are carried out in the laboratory.The effects of stirring intensity,stirring time,mixing methods,water adding methods and stirring temperatures on the average droplet diameter,phase inversion point and viscosity of the emulsion are studied.It is found that preparation temperature,stirring intensity and stirring time are the main factors that affect the properties of emulsion.Increasing the stirring intensity and lengthening the stirring time will make the water droplets smaller and make the viscosity increase.Increasing the stirring speed will lead to early appearance of the phase inversion point.Increasing preparation temperature will make the water particles become larger and the viscosity decrease,and will lead to early advent of phase inversion point.Continuous mixing and adding water to heavy oil at once are more suitable for emulsion preparation.Determination of preparation conditions of the simulated emulsion is herein different from other scholars by comparing viscosity.In this paper,not only is the viscosity deviation compared,but the deviation of the droplet diameter is also compared,and the preparation conditions of the emulsion are finally determined by comparison of the two.Based on Masood model,the viscosity temperature curve of the emulsion is fitted.This experimental study is a guidance to the practical production.
